All of us women are entitled to a little R and R every so often. And who better to spend it with than girlfriends, moms, sisters, mother and sister-in-laws. Here are a few tips to planning a girlfriend getaway, and remember- girls will be girls.
- Canvass the group to see what everyone wants to do.
- Figure out everyone's budget, and how much time they have.
- Designate one person as the lead organizer.
- Have everyone contribute a nonrefundable deposit of $100 to be used for reservation deposits. (After money is committed, few will cancel)
With women traveling more and more these days, the internet is a huge help in choosing destinations, figuring out what to do when you get there and booking accommodations as a group. Check out Travel Muse, Trip Base, and Triporati.
For hotel deals, try Deal Base, a site that finds hotel deals and analyzes them, so you don't have to read all the fine print.
Here are 5 Girl Getaways around the country:
1. Jackson Hole Wyoming. Known for its Wild West themes it is also sophisticated. There is shopping, hiking, and spas. If your friends are "run the river" types- that is available too!
2. San Antonio, Texas. Go South of the border, and find yourself in the Alamo city. It is famous for it's river walk, and is lined with shops and restaurants. Nearby is La Villita, where boutiques have taken root in 18th century buildings. In an 1883 warehouse, Riverwalk Vista Inn has pine floors, high ceilings and huge windows. (riverwalkvista.com $120)
3. New York, New York! This one you might want to prepare more in advance for because of the expense, but definitely a girls trip. Shopping, shows, dining and sightseeing! Need I say more?
4. Las Vegas, Nevada. Diva Las Vegas ladies! Shopping, shopping and more shopping! Not to mention laying out by the pool, and affordable dining. Great for just a weekend.

5. San Francisco, California. Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair! There are unique botiques, and the beach. Things you should do at least once, take a tour of Alcatraz Island, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge (while you think how romantic it would be if your hubby were with you- for a few fleeting moments) and Chinatown.

Going to San Antonio in Feb. to be in a wedding. It is a fabulously fun place. So are Austin and DC!
We go as a family every year to Jackson Hole and I gotta say it really is so much fun! I love going to vegas too! I'm going to Park City this weekend with my mother in law and sister in law. It's exciting!
Maybe this is nerdy, but I think Disneyland would be fun, or Disneyworld! They have the cutest shops there and with no husband to prevent you from blowing money, fun! Plus, the rides.......
K Jess now we need to do it!!
