It's been a long time since I sat down and watched a movie. So, I don't know much about any newer movies...but, I sure have some favorites from back in the days. All great movies to sit down and watch with the whole family...
Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (I thought the main dude was SO hot...I wonder if he still is...now that I'm older! Isn't it funny who you used to think was so hot? Oh, how I wanted Kirk Cameron.)
The Labyrinth (Creepy, but great music and really fun!)

Flight of the Navigator (Boy meets aliens...super cool!)

The NeverEnding Story (Atraiu, Atrayu, Atrau...how do you spell it?? He was hot.)

Swiss Family Robinson (The brother with the brown hair...hot...I think I'm too old for him now! And too married. But, I'm noticing a pattern here. I think I like the movies from childhood where I thought the guys were um, well...hot.)

The War (K, really, truly...this is one of the best movies ever! I tell everyone about it. I have a favorite scene where this kid is waiting outside while his dad runs in the store to buy him some ice cream...or, is it cotton candy? Anyway, when he comes out, he sees these punk-kids, who have been picking on his son regularly, totally harassing the son again. The dad comes out with the treat and walks over and gives it to the bullies, instead of his own kid. The son is mortified, "What did you do that for?!?" And, the dad says, "It looks like they haven't been given anything in a long time." Perfect.)
Curly Sue (Darling show! The little girl in this so stinkin sweet.)
Splash (I always wished I was a real mermaid! Not anymore, mind you. Just when I was like...25.)What are some of your favorite family movies from the past???

I LOVED Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, and since Im a total romantacist, I would pretend it was me! Thanks for reminding me of these.... gonna put em on my Netflicks que!
Brings back many memories! I just added all of them but The NeverEnding Story & Labrynth to my netflix. I've only recently discovered your blog but I thinks it's awesome!
One of my favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz. I have fond memories of watching it every summer on one of the THREE local channels we got on our ONE tv in the house. Those were the good ole days :)
Wow I had totally forgotten about a lot of those movies, except for the Labrynth... no child could forget those creepy red fire monsters who traded heads. YIKES! I'm going to have to go rent all those again. You can't forget the Goonies, the only problem is those kids swear a lot in that movie!
How about Back to the Future, Karate Kid, The Cutting Edge, and I second Goonies, including the swearing - too much from the kids! Sheesh! Same thing with Ferris Bueller's Day Off, too.
ha ha! those brought back some good memories! i'd totally forgotten about some of those.
Girls just want to have fun! I had it memorized and me and my sister knew all the dance moves!
i would just like to say that flight of the navigator is AMAZING!!
& as a child my favorites were dirty dancing, pretty woman & grease... apparently my mom thought they were perfectly fine for a 1st grader to watch with my big sisters...haha!!
such good movies, i have yet to see splash though!!
xo-
I don't think I have seen really any of these movies! It makes me want to go see them though!!
Just re-watched Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Very hilarious looking back. :) Let's see, Space Camp, Operation Dumbo Drop, Harry and the Henderson's.
I LOVE all the older Disney movies - Happiest Millionaire, Toby Tyler, Parent Trap (the REAL one), Third Man on the Mountain. Many many more in that category.
Anything with Tim Conway and Don Knotts (Apple Dumpling Gang, Private Eyes).
Looking through what we've rented on netflix. They just don't make great family movies like they used to. Nanny McPhee will definitely be on this "classics" list in years to come.
Oh man I loved these movies!! There are some that I could still watch over and over!
I loved that movie "Wild Hearts..."!!! I too had the biggest crush on Michael Schoeffling. Because of your post I looked him up to see whatever happened to him. He was a model before he was an actor. :)

Love all those movies! I'd have to add Karate Kid, my kids absolutely loved it and any of the old Star Wars movies. Yes, I have to agree on the language in Goonies and I sat down to watch Back to the Future with my 10 year old and I couldn't believe the language in that too! Love Parent Trap, one of my favorites, Mary Poppins and Escape to Witch Mountain. The hot guy from Wild Hearts Can't be Broken was in Sixteen Candles. What a cutie! Oh, I also loved the Rocketeer!
Thanks ladies! I now have another huge list of must-see movies!
Candice, thanks for the link for the "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" hunk. I almost felt a little naughty looking up a former crush.
Our moms must've put us onto the same exact movie list! Love all these. Thanks for the flashback.
