Bye Bye Boring Breakfast! (she: Dana)

Hello Ladies!

My name is Dana. I'm a 30 year old stay at home mother of 4 wonderful children. The two wild boys are 5 and 3 years old and my identical twin girls are 16 months. The hairy guy is my husband. Life is hectic around my house, especially in the morning. Always a race against the clock, trying to get kids dressed, fed and one to the bus stop on time....with his shoes on (don't ask!)

The same old bowl of cereal or instant oatmeal can get a bit boring. Change it up a bit with these fun breakfast ideas.

Egg in the Hole...updated
The classic egg in hole recipe gets kid friendly when you use your favorite cookie cutters.

1.Take a slice of bread.

2. Let your kids pick out their favorite cookie cutter shape and cut the center of the bread out.

3. Meanwhile, melt a little butter in the frying pan.

4. Place the bread and cutout piece into hot pan.

5. Break egg into the hole of the bread.
6. Flip when white of the egg is....um, white....Can you tell I've never described how to cook an egg before? You get the point.

The possibilities are endless...Egg in the Pumpkin, Egg in the Truck, Egg in the Star are a few of the favorites in our house.

Banana Dog

This is great when you're in a hurry or don't feel like cooking. Plus, my boys think it's hilarious.

1. Start with a whole grain hot dog bun.
2. Spread your favorite peanut butter on.
3. Add banana.
4. Drizzle with honey or sugar free preserves.

Easy shmeezy. My 3 year old asks for this every morning!

Breakfast Pops

Yes, popsicles for breakfast. If you serve these you will be the coolest mom on the block. BUT there is a chance your child's teacher will think bad of you when he tells his class what he had for breakfast.

What you need:

3 Bananas
1/2 cup of Almond Butter (you can substitute peanut butter)
1/2 cup of Vanilla Soy Milk (you can substitute any soy or rice milk)

The night before, blend in food processor or blender until smooth. Poor into popsicle molds and freeze over night.

Serve with whole grain toast and some sliced fruit to complete the meal.

Great ideas! We'll have to try the pop's...(Unfortunately the others won't work due to allergies, but I'm going to try to figure out some alternatives along the same ideas.)
