Fill Your Mug With The BEST Hot Chocolate!

Mmmmm.....there's nothing like a mug of hot chocolate on a cold day! This cold weather is really making me SAD, SAD, SAD that I have to be lactose intolerant and without a mug of heavenly goodness. I'm crying right now...really, really hard. That's how sad I am. Feel free to comfort me. I'll set up a Paypal account, send me all your money. It might help a little.

So, instead of drinking hot chocolate...I just look at it and feel really naughty...tempting myself into wanting something that's bad for me. Hot Chocolate Porn. It's dangerous. Since YOU can drink it...maybe you should just tell me about the creaminess, the taste, the warmth...or, maybe you shouldn't.

But, if you do...tell me about these ones:

I read endless reviews of hot chocolate on the internet and I found several favorites...

Although, a little pricey...$13 dollars for 12 ounces (8 servings)...Schokinag European hot chocolate has won dozens of awards and taste tests! Made with top of the line ingredients, a perfectly sweet indulgence.

Significantly cheaper, but still with amazing reviews...Ghirardelli's Hot Chocolate. A 16 oz. can will sell for about $7 dollars, but if you buy from Amazon you can get a 4 pack for just $19 dollars! There are several different flavors to choose from.

Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, and Oprah all LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Serendipity's Frrrozen Hot Chocolate ($16 for 18 oz.)! This NYC sweet shop is a must-try if you're in the area...
Serendipity 3 was featured on the Oprah show, sharing their famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate recipe...although, they were kinda vague (as to what KIND of chocolates they use). Here it is:

Serendipity 3's Frrrozen Hot Chocolate

6 pieces (1/2 ounce) chocolate, a variety of your favorite choices
2 tsp. store-bought hot chocolate mix
1 1/2 TBS. sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
3 cups ice
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Shavings

Directions: Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of milk until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender, place the remaining cup of milk, the room-temperature chocolate mixture and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Maybe you just want to make your own hot chocolate...check out these recipes!

I think I'll mix up a cup or two tomorrow morning when it's frosty and dark. I bet you could make some with soymilk, and the chocolate would cover that soy taste. It just doesn't seem right for anyone to have to go without hot chocolate.

My personal favorite--Williams' Sonoma's hot chocolate. It's really just pure chocolate flakes, not cocoa. They have peppermint flavored, too.

I LOVE hot chocolate. I don't usually splurge on it unless I see some at TJ Maxx. I usually just drink Swiss Miss :-)
