The Cutest Advent Calendars Ever! (To Buy OR To Make)

Advent calendars are one of those things I would like to hoard...kind of like how I hoard shoes, jewelry, and lounge pants. I get all happy inside when I see them...they instantly make me think of my childhood and how exciting Christmas can be! It takes everything I have to resist the urge to buy more of them!

Pretty soon, in a post to come, I'll share with you a fun tradition to do with your advent calendars...that's different than the norm. But, for now...let's just look at some cute ones! If you don't have one, now is the time to get one...before the 1st of December! Advent calendars can be pricey or they don't have to be. But, either way...just think of how it will be used for many, many, many years to come AND can be passed down. So, it makes total sense to get the one you want...I'm just helping you justify. :)

Pottery Barn Kids ALWAYS has the cutest advent calendars. Up until this year, I just "oohed and awwed" over them but never could bring myself to fork over the dough to actually buy one. But, I finally justified the purchase (see how, above) and got this cutie! I can't wait to use it! You can find their advent calendars of years past on eBay. Also, Pottery Barn has ridiculous shipping prices (that's right, PB...I hope you read that!), so if you can...make a trip to their store.

Pottery Barn Telluride Advent Calendar, $69.

Garnet Hill has several cute ones...

Advent Calendar Elf, $78

Lots of times, at Target, I will run across some stinkin' cute advent calendars...nice prices, too!

White House Advent Calendar, $30

If you're feeling crafty...Etsy has super cute ideas of advent calendars to make or buy. More and more, craft stores are starting to carry 24 drawer boxes to make advent calendars out of. But, if you don't want to make it...it's not a bad price to just buy it from the shop!

Polka Dot Studio's Magnetic Box Advent Calendar, $38

Martha Stewart has a really cute idea, Advent in a Box, to get all shapes and sizes of boxes (jewelry, match, etc.), paint them and put vinyl letters on. Hang them on the wall with poster putty or on a framed board.

Another cute idea from trusty Martha is to get kids socks (cute ones) and hang them, as if on a clothes line. Instructions, here. This would be so easy!

Oh my stars! What a hard decision that would be to pick just one!

I love them all! I'm sitting here thinking, I would HAVE to do 4...one for each of my daughters (next year 5), and that would help trying to pick which ones I LOVE....but what about the rest?!

I bought one at Target last year after the holidays, it is very similar to the White House one you featured. My daughter will enjoy getting candy and little trinkets each day. I am curious about what your idea for these will be. . . .

Ha! I love the way you specify that we should only use "cute" kids socks for an advent calendar!! I've been searching for cute Christmas kid socks for a few weeks, and so far, I only have enough for HALF an advent calendar. So, maybe by next year... :)

Aw, Mary...you might just have to "give up on perfect". I'm thinking a random plain sock in between the cute ones would still be super cute!

Try Target.

Seriously so cute! Argghhh, why didn't I look at this before December? Oh well, I will have to get in touch with my craft side for next year.
