Make Your Own Interchangeable Watch Bands (she: Racenmommy)

Hello All ~In the blog world I go by Racenmommy~

I'm a SAHM to 3 of the most adorable little munchkins you'll ever meet (in my humble opinion, of course) & married to my best friend for 9 wonderful years!

Life is Great!!

I love makin' beaded jewelry among other crafty things.
I'm also obsessed with bloggin'.
If you are curious about my blog, you can find me here.
I'm so excited to do this guest post on this most awesome blog.
It is one of my favs!

Enough about me, lets get started on our watch band...

( Oh & please excuse my dark, grainy pics. I can't figure out what setting my camera is on )

First things first, we need to gather up our supplies:

a bar watch face
elastic cord or stretch magic
beading needle
glue
clamp
soft tape measure
4 large claw clasp
piece of felt or something to lay your beads out on
2 links or long beads with two holes in them
and last but certainly not least an assortment of beads

Using a soft measuring tape, measure your wrist. Minus 1 to 1 1/2 inches from your measurement for the watch face & then double that. Cut your elastic cord to this measurement, but it wouldn't be such a bad idea to add an inch or two, just in case.

Lay out your beads the way you want them on your watch. You will do two rows of beads with links somewhere in the middle. Also don't forget to add your claws in each of the four corners.
(my links are the green bar looking beads...)

Add your needle to the middle of your elastic cord.

Add your clamp to the end to keep the beads on.

You can now start adding your beads. Start with a bead that has a large hole
so that you can hide your knot at the end.

String your beads in the order you have them laid out.

When you come to your clasps be sure to string them all in the same direction.
Either all up or all down.

When you get to this point, bring your string through the other hole of the link.

Now we are almost ready to tie it off.

Before we do this, measure it up to your wrist with the watch face. You want it loose enough it wont cut off your circulation but not so loose it's falling off.

Adjust as necessary.

Now to tie it off:
I do a square knot but, I double loop the first loop.
So under twice and then over. Pull it super tight.
If you want double knot it, just be sure it's tight.

When you feel its tight enough, add a drop of glue & then cut access.
It should slide under the bead & stay hidden.

I couldn't find my glue, but I use E600.

Now you are ready to add it to your watch face
& show off it off to all your friends.

Make a bunch, these are a perfect Christmas gift!
The possibilities are endless!
