For the past 6 years, I’ve been staring at my table thinking, ‘Dang. I need a centerpiece.’ So, for 6 years I’ve been keeping my eyes open for something I loved…and then last Friday, I found it. An awesome floral arrangement, in MY colors, perfect for my table, at Pier 1. I grab the price tag, thinking maybe um…$59 bucks?? Oh, no. Try $179! Holy cow, I had no idea arrangements were that pricey. I must be so out of it. Anyway, I teetered back and forth, trying to decide if it was worth the chance of getting in big husband-trouble…and, I decided NOT. La, la, la…the next day I’m at Jo-Ann Fabrics picking up some pleather to reupholster the seats on my kitchen stools. (My lovely kids cut them up with scissors.) Right when I walk in, I see flowers and I think…’Freak. I haven’t done a craft in years. Can I pull this off?’ A wave of ambition came over me and I started loading up on greenery and flowers, oh and found a small pot, and those blocks of green stuff that you stab flowers in.
I have absolutely no idea if I did this the ‘correct’ way, but all I know is I threw it together in 30 minutes and might like it just as much, if not more, than the arrangement at Pier 1.
All I did was cut the green foam stuff (do you like that terminology?) up and jammed it down tight into my pot.
I placed my flowers out on the table in the way I though I would like them in the pot, then I started stuffing! So easy, and may I say…pretty fun.
I tried to find flowers and greenery of different shapes, sizes, and textures, to add a little visual interest. I started in the middle with what I wanted to be the tallest, and just worked my way down. Unless I’m delusional, I think it turned out pretty good! And, the best part…rather than paying $179, it cost me about $65 bucks. Next time, I’ll wait for silk flowers to go on sale, and save even more. 🙂 I’m already anxious to make another one…maybe for a gift?
P.S. Have you linked up YOUR great idea at the Saturday link party!?! Hurry over there, today’s the last day…until next Saturday. 🙂
